I had a vision for a continuous rolling landscape with Alderley Hall on the left side and the faux Scottish castle of the Eccentric Dowager Marchioness (from Characters) just outside of Derby on the right. Janek brought that vision to life with a Wuthering Heights-esque brooding mood lightened by a hint of sunlight touching Alderley Hall and a bold patch on the right-center hillock.

• SIZE: It measures 950mm x 262mm (37.4" x 10.3") and roughly occupies the same real estate as the Round Track + Supply Board + Characters Sideboard.
• ORIENTATION: I do not have the luxury to make several different configurations of the playmat, and so I chose the most common configuration. I also feel strongly about the beauty of one continuous landscape. I recognize this is a Hatfields & McCoys issue, and I am sorry if you are a Hatfield. Dividing the production volume creates issues, both financial (economies of scale) and logistic (can I make a second or third minimum order quantity?).
• MATERIAL: The rubber mat is single-sided with a stitched edge. The back side is textured rubber that minimises sliding.
• UNIVERSAL RULES COMPENDIUM: There was an opportunity to add features to the central playmat, such as listing setup information and rearranging some elements; however, I had to mirror the look of the existing components as much as possible so as to not obsolete entries in the rules compendium.
• WERE THERE ANY MODIFICATIONS? Yes, I made 2 minor changes: 1) I made the Standard Play round track in a straight line, and 2) The Reserving Characters feature is managed by having a faded second worker-placement spot.
• STORAGE: In a perfect segue, the playmat snugly fits into the Victorian Box!
